Wednesday March 10 Toulouse Blagnac Airport launched it’s new terminal, Hall D.

It was a successful opening, with the first flight operated by Air Austral to Saint –Denis in The Reunion Island.

“With the opening of Hall D, Toulouse Blagnac Airport has almost doubled it’s surface area and brought it’s passenger capacity level to 8.5 million passengers”, explains Jean-Michel Vernhes, President of the Directory of Toulouse Blagnac Airport. We are preparing for the future by equipping our terminal with the latest technology and by offering a quality of service equivalent to that of the biggest European Airports.” After four years of construction work, we are now beginning the operational stage and our aim is to come up to the expectations of the passengers and airline companies who will use it”.

Hall D will handle European and International destinations.

puceThe safety commission declared Hall D in compliance
January 2010

On 8 January, the safety commission declared Hall D's new infrastructures in compliance and meeting all current safety regulations. Subsequently, a preliminary test using aircraft with no passengers aboard is scheduled for 20 January in order to check and validate the markings delineating the parking bays, in particular. Finally, in February, Toulouse-Blagnac Airport will proceed with the first tests with passengers.

Development work
December 2009

Work recently completed:
• Development of the retail area (excluding dining outlets)
• Development of the inspection and screening area
• Installation and commissioning of the remote displays
• Development of the inner gardens
• Equipping of the check-in and tour operator desks
• Updating of software for controlling all airport functions (Schengen/international configurations, remote automatic door controls, heating/air conditioning, fire detection devices, etc)
• Approval from government bodies granting the hall reserved area status

In progress:
• Installation of signage systems
• Installation of seating in the departure lounge
• Testing of the automated baggage sorting system
• Connections with the “Departures” and “Arrivals” levels in Hall C
• Design of the new aircraft parking bays
• Construction of the pedestrian square under the overpass and the new road network
• Post-work cleanup and floor crystallisation

Key dates (coming soon):
• Safety commission scheduled for 8 January
• Initial tests scheduled for the first week of January (docking of an aircraft with no passengers aboard to check the conformity of ground marking, BMS configuration testing, etc.)
• Initial tests with passengers scheduled for the first week of February.

Development work
November 2009

• Floors in the departure lounges
• Fitting of glazing in the disembarkation corridors
• Private offices for the staff of companies based at the airport
• Immigration/Emigration control area
• Move of Customs to Hall D

In progress:
• Installation of furniture and equipment in the security checkpoint areas
• Installation of signage and information display systems
• Shopping area
• Design of new aircraft parking bays
• Electrical and computer network wiring
• Connection with the “Departures” and “Arrivals” levels in Hall C
• Pedestrian square under the overpass
• Testing of the automated baggage sorting system
• Post-work cleanup

Development work
August 2009

• Staff offices as well as airline counters
• Installation of glass partition walls leading to landing area

In progress:
• Departure lounges
• Security check-point and check-in desks
• Preparation of floor surfaces
• Installation of sign system

• Partition walls for all offices

• Study of aircraft parking
• Customs check-point
• Electrical work

Under construction:
• Connection between Hall C and Hall D departures level (check-in area)
• Arrivals area

The new overpass opened
June 2009

The new overpass opened on 3 June. The existing road network was expanded to cater for this development. A new traffic flow system, passenger delivery… the airport is changing! This 189 metre-long and 15.4 metre-wide construction is connected to the existing esplanade that leads to Halls A, B and C.

Storm of January 2009
February 2009

During the storm of 24 January 2009, part of Hall D’s roof (1,500 sq. m) blew off. Toulouse-Blagnac Airport quickly took all the necessary measures to clean up the damage and order the materials required for the repair work.
